A jaihanar is an ancient Kel term for what non-Kel refer to as a haptic chameleon. The term is used in the short story The Chameleon's Gloves.

The exiled thief Rhehan was a jainahar.

Description[]

Jaihanar are people who can crack security systems by perfectly imitating others' patterns of movement, fooling the algorithms that identify humans through their walks, facial expressions, or the patterns of their keystrokes. In order to acquire a pattern, jaihanar must observe a minimum of data, such as video footage, on their subject's movements. They also train in a variety of arts, such as painting or music, the better to understand the movements involved in those skills.

The ancient Kel produced few jaihanar, and those who completed Kel academy training were usually recruited to the special forces. Outside the Kel, jaihanar were referred to as "haptic chameleons" in the various languages of pre-heptarchate humanity.[1]
