Commander Kel Huan is a Kel bannermoth commander. He appears in Ninefox Gambit.

Huan is a man with dark, steady eyes.
History[]
Huan commands the bannermoth Coiled Stone. After the Siege of the Fortress of Scattered Needles, he was part of a relief swarm of four bannermoths and twelve boxmoths which met the null swarm near the Fortress. Hailing Brevet General Kel Cheris, Huan introduced himself and then claimed he needed to go scold his seconded Nirai over a "ridiculous emergency in Engineering" and signed off. General Shuos Jedao deduced, from Huan's pulse and tone, that he was lying and intended to destroy Cheris's swarm.
Moments later, Commander Kel Paizan's cindermoth broke formation to avoid an attack. Anomalies in Coiled Stone's engine harmonics were detected, and Cheris was warned that it was a bomb. Cheris ordered all units to open fire on Coiled Stone, but the bannermoth's carrion bomb went off and destroyed most of her swarm.[1]
Trivia[]
- The bomb detected by Scan involved "something wrong with the Coiled Stone's engine harmonics" rather than a missile fired by the bannermoth, making it likely that Huan had been sent on a suicide mission.
- While formation instinct should have constrained Huan from firing on Jedao and Cheris, orders from Kel Command would have superseded his loyalty to their rank.
