Servitor sin x^2 was a Kel servitor who worked at the Aerie. It appears in Raven Stratagem.
History[]
Servitor sin x^2 normally served in Medical and had picked up a number of oddball duties no one else wanted, such as polishing a collection of musical instruments. It was one of forty-eight servitors who remained on the Aerie rather than evacuating before the hour of its destruction, a decision respected by the other servitors once they understood that it would not be shaken. Unlike others, it remained not to oversee the sabotage or maintain the illusion that nothing was amiss, but due to personal convictions. While holding no illusions about the Kel hivemind's waning sanity or their view of servitors as mere instruments, it intended to represent its enclave with its presence, ensuring that the unknowingly doomed Kel under its care would not die alone.
On its last day, sin x^2 performed its duties for the last time, paying special attention to the condition of the viols which had once been favorites of High General Kel Aurel. Receiving the six-minute warning from Servitor tanh x, it whisked through the corridors to where the high general was seated in communion with Subcommand Composite Eight and unaware of her physical surroundings, floating in through the open doors to remain with her for the last one minute and eight seconds before the Aerie was destroyed.[1]
